As the dental industry grows rapidly, competition also becomes tougher. If you want to stand out in the industry, you will need to be updated with the trends in dental procedures as well as dental technology. To catch up with the leading practices in dentistry, here is a list of things you should know about.

Laser Dental Procedures

All those scary dental instruments in a dentist’s clinic are enough to frighten the pants off anybody. Even if you opt to use anaesthesia, which is said to make everything “painless”, its injection looks painful enough. It is no wonder why dentists are not much loved by people. However, latest technology has opened up new ways to address this fear.

Thanks to advancements in dental technology, laser treatments were created. This is perhaps the best advancement yet because it can literally make procedures painless. There are different types of laser treatments that aim to treat different kinds of dental issues. The diode laser treatments, for example, handle minor procedures like teeth cleaning and whitening. There is also the hard tissue treatment which is used for rather serious issues like the extraction of a wisdom tooth or root canals.

Nitrous Oxide a.k.a. Laughing Gas

The use of laughing gas or nitrous oxide has become more accepted in many countries due to its effectiveness in calming down patients. It is a dental sedation method wherein the dentist makes the patient inhale a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen so that he or she will immediately feel relaxed. It works almost immediately and wears off very fast. Dentists use it as it offers a safer and more effective alternative for anaesthesia.

Mini Implants

Remember back in the eighties and nineties when dental implants consisted of dental crowns and dentures which were very hard to place inside the mouth? Dental implantation used to be such a complex process that involved a lot of return trips to the dentist. In 2015, mini implants finally replaced them. Mini implants are very popular among a lot of people because they look like real teeth. Also, the procedure is not as painful as the older treatment methods.

Invisalign

When you have crooked teeth, the dentist usually lets you use braces. However, braces are a real pain! They make a person uncomfortable and turn ordinary daily rituals, like eating and talking, difficult. However, due to dental advancements, we have what is now known as Invisalign braces. Invisalign braces are created using a unique plastic material that is hard enough to align the teeth but flexible enough to give ease to users. Before buying these kinds of braces, you will need a diagnosis from your dentist so that he or she can properly instruct you on how to use them.

In the end, a clinic is still a business and the goal of any business is to bring in clients. If you are a dentist, then you must keep yourself updated so that you can constantly improve yourself and contribute to the growth of your practice.
