Home Improvement: Combos To Improve House Efficiency

When it comes to home improvement, some of the things that you can invest in to increase overall household efficiency are combination appliances or structures. Whatever you can do twice as many things in the same space, that can save you time, money, and energy, as well as having many other benefits.

To list just a few of the combinations that will improve your household, consider things like a combined washer and dryer, refrigerator and freezer, heating and cooling appliance, and space for your storage and your vehicle within the same structure. Each of those is an example of times that you can put two functions together and create a synergistic relationship.

Washer and Dryer

One of the most apparent combinations you can get is to purchase a combo washer and dryer. This is a pretty fantastic appliance that washes your clothes and then dries it all within the same machine. Two styles of combo unit will come to mind immediately. One is the style where there are a separate washer and dryer, but they are on top of one another, creating a single appliance. And the other is an appliance that washes your clothes and then dries it in the same physical space. The costs of these units are quite variable depending on the manufacturer and specifics of each unit.

Refrigerator and Freezer

Most people have a combination refrigerator and freezer, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t count as something that is efficient because of this combination. The critical thing to consider when purchasing a refrigeration unit is that the balance between the amount of space that is refrigerated and the amount of space that is frozen is appropriate to your circumstances. Many people eventually have to buy a separate freezer because there isn’t enough room in their first unit. Think about this in advance before making your purchase.

Heating and Cooling

Installing a combined heating and cooling unit is a massive benefit to your household. Having central air is great. Having a furnace system that vents to all of your separate rooms is great. But what if you could have single units that do both! You save a ton of money and space on the sufficiency, and though installation is a little bit different than standard heating and cooling units, most people rave about them in the end.

Storage and Vehicle Garage

Do you have a storage shed? Do you have a garage for your vehicles? If these are separate units, why haven’t you thought about how to combine them into one idea? Depending on the size of cars that you drive and the amount of space you have in the garage attached your house, you can finish and organize the amount of space in that garage that you need for it to work as a shed as well as just a place to park your vehicles.
